We conducted an empirical study of executive hiring practices by offering employers a 90% fee reduction on retained search in exchange for their candor (compensation exceeding $400,000). Across thousands of executive interviews, we isolated seven primary dimensions that proved decisive in securing placements. Candidates aligned with these dimensions secured offers at six times the typical velocity, and the offers were disproportionately concentrated in the upper quartile for compensation.
Building on this research, we identified an additional twenty-five secondary dimensions that exert a measurable influence on salary, title, and benefits.
